Yellow lemon, vitaminized cake

The first impression upon entering the patisserie is a feeling of freshness and calm with beautiful yellow and white hues. The shop consists of two parts: an order-to-order (and take-out) counter and tables for on-site tasting.

The offer revolves around sandwiches and pastries, all homemade according to our information, with local and organic products where possible, expressing a regressive taste. The meal starts with the so-called roll, which is two beautiful slices of melting brioche that protect the different fillings inside. I choose a vegetarian roll (€6.95), stuffed with mozzarella, tomatoes and pesto. I’m really impressed with the fondant brioche slices, it’s hard to doubt that they are well made locally. My sidekick of the day focuses on the Alsatian roll (€6.20), which offers relish, mustard, pickles and fried onions. Here, too, brioche bread has its own effect: it almost feels like tasting a very fluffy cloud. A seafood roll with smoked trout is also on the menu, but we didn’t try it. Because we had to leave some room for the future!

A place for sugar

Yellow lemon is a cake , so you shouldn’t ignore desserts and sweet treats. It starts with Comforting choco hazelnuts (€5.75), a dessert that intertwines layers of hazelnut shortbread, praline, chocolate mousse and namelaka (chocolate cream). The dessert is decorated with a rather fine sponge cake depicting a rosette, which of course resembles Strasbourg Cathedral. We get to the heart of the matter with these dishes, which have a strong and very gourmet taste of hazelnuts and chocolate. What a pleasure to dip a spoon into it, a treat!

Gluten-free cake and cookies

The pastry shop also offers other dishes (Elegant Peach, Pleasant Red Fruits, Sweet Coconut Raspberries…), but we choose another specialty (regressive), homemade cookies (from €3.50). These are very thick and not necessarily very attractive at first glance. But the melt-in-your-mouth texture and sugar crystals make the difference: it’s success. Toppings spoiled for choice: chocolate, hazelnuts, pistachios, pecans, peanuts, praline…

The last test of the day for our full stomachs is the gluten-free lime and passion fruit cake (€2.70). The passionfruit flavor is not very strong, but its grainy buttery side in the heart and frosting are very tasty.

After all, this new establishment brings lightness and fatness to the closed environment of a pastry shop in the city center of Strasbourg. Nothing very original, but quality products at an affordable price. All with a direct view of the production lab, allowing you to watch the creation of your creations. The lack of savory options is a little regrettable, but the wide selection of sweet baked goods makes up for it. An interesting address for food on the go or a gourmet snack at 4 p.m.…
